There are various types of treatment on offer, including crowns, fillings, and dental bridges. Bridges are used to replace missing teeth.

About dental crowns

Dental crowns are sometimes referred to as caps because they sit on top of the natural tooth structure. If you need a crown, your dentist will remove decayed tooth tissue and shape your tooth before they place your crown. Crowns are custom-made to ensure a comfortable fit. At Aqua Dental Clinic, we offer our patients a choice of crowns. We can either use a traditional manufacturing method and send a tooth template off to the dental laboratory, or we can create bespoke same-day crowns using CEREC technology.

You may be advised to have a crown if you’ve injured your tooth, your tooth is infected, or if it has a large cavity. Once the crown has been placed, your tooth should feel stronger and sturdier. Crowns can be made using metals or ceramics, but we often find that patients prefer ceramics like porcelain, as they produce aesthetically-pleasing results. We expect crowns to last between 5 and 15 years.

What are dental bridges?

Dental bridges are restorations made up of a false tooth and a supportive crown on each side. They are often used to replace a missing tooth. Like crowns, we can use different materials to form a bridge. Ceramic bridges produce very lifelike aesthetics and they are an excellent choice for those looking to enjoy a beautiful smile. Bridges are custom-designed for each individual patient and we can usually fit them over two appointments. During the first session, we will create a mould for your bridge, and we will then fit the bridge during the second appointment. Bridges usually last up to 15 years and they are a more affordable alternative to dental implants.
