Types of dental injury
There are various types of injury that require urgent dental care, including broken teeth, facial and jaw injuries and dislodged teeth. Other emergency dental issues may include dental abscesses and severe tooth pain.
In many cases, there are things you can do to provide temporary relief for pain and we can offer self-help techniques and advice about taking painkillers.
In the case of a dislodged tooth, it may be possible to save the tooth if you are able to get to a dentist very quickly. If you can make it quickly, one of our expert dentists will do all they can to save the tooth and re-implant it. Preventing dental emergencies
Often, there’s nothing you can do to prevent accidents, but sometimes there are ways of reducing your risk of dental injuries. These include always wearing a seatbelt, using a mouth guard when you are playing sport and seeing a dentist if you have dental pain. Pain is often a sign that something isn’t quite right and treating the underlying cause early will help to prevent it from getting worse.
