Confused about cosmetic dentistry options?

Nov 22nd, 2017 How to know if you are suitable for Dental Implants Get in touch

Dental implants have taken the world of dentistry by storm and it’s now easier than ever before to replace a missing tooth. If you have missing teeth and you’re thinking about having implants, we are here to help.

How do you know if you’re suitable for implants?

Dental implants are a suitable option for most patients with missing natural teeth, but we cannot say for certain whether or not you will be a good match for implants without examining your mouth and having a look at the bone density in the jaw. Implants are ideal for many patients, but if there is a lack of strong bone tissue in the jaw, the bone may not be able to support the implant. If this is the case, it may be possible to do a bone graft to build up the tissue or to fit mini implants, which are smaller than conventional implants.

If you are interested in dental implants, we strongly advise you to get in touch. When you have a consultation, our experienced dentists will have a good look at your teeth and they will also look at your jaw. They may carry out some X-rays and scans to see if you are a suitable candidate for implants. Your dentist may also ask you about your lifestyle habits. If you’re a heavy smoker, for example, this may not be an ideal match for you, as smoking increases the risk of implant failure and slows the healing process.
