May 27th, 2015 Porcelain Crowns Fit for a King Get in touch

2603730_blogWhen it comes to our clients, we treat everyone like a VIP and are delighted to offer high quality crowns fit for a king! If you have a damaged or decayed tooth in need of some TLC, you’ve come to the right place.

What are crowns and why would I need one?

Crowns are restorations commonly used when a tooth is damaged or decayed. They sit over the top of the natural tooth structure to provide additional strength and support. Crowns can be made from various materials and we recommend porcelain crowns. Our beautifully crafted, high-grade porcelain crowns will enhance the beauty of your smile, while also strengthening your tooth and helping to reduce the risk of infection or injury.

If you have extensive decay, have damaged a tooth in an accident or your tooth has been weakened by a large filling, you may need a crown. We may also recommend a new crown following root canal treatment for a dental infection and you could need a crown if you have lost a single tooth and are having dental implant treatment.

How is a crown fitted?

Before a new crown is fitted, your dentist will prepare your tooth, which enables them to shape the tooth and get rid of any decayed tooth structure. At Aqua Dental, we are committed to investing in technology to bring our clients the best possible standards of treatment and we are very proud to offer CEREC single-day crown treatment. This mean our clients can choose from single-session treatment or hand-crafted crowns, which usually take around two weeks.

With CEREC, we take photographs of the tooth and these are converted into models, which are sent to the on-site milling machine. The entire process, from design to manufacturing, takes place on-site, so you don’t have to wait for treatment. In the case of hand-crafted crowns, your dentist will create an impression of the tooth after it has been prepared and this will be sent away to the lab. When it’s ready, it can be fitted.

Crowns should last around five years if they are well looked-after.
