4843159_blogStudies show that dental phobia is among the most common phobias in the UK. At Aqua Dental, we have an incredibly experienced dental team and we provide the latest treatments and techniques to encourage nervous patients to relax and to gradually build their confidence and overcome their fears. We are a Dental Phobia Certified practice and Dr Anoop Maini has over 10 years of experience in delivering treatment under sedation for nervous patients.

We understand that our approach makes a huge difference to how patients feel and we are always on hand to offer advice and reassurance, provide TLC and answer any questions. We are happy to provide tours of the clinic and consultations with the dental team prior to treatment to help you prepare and put your mind at ease before you undergo a procedure. We offer complimentary spa services and encourage our patients to relax and chill out with a drink and DVD and we also offer sedation for those who feel very anxious.

Sedation is a highly effective technique that helps nervous patients feel more relaxed before and during a dental procedure. With sedation, you won’t lose consciousness, but you will feel drowsy and sleepy and you won’t feel any discomfort. If you would like to, you can still make contact and communicate with your dentist while you are sedated and you will also be able to hear them talking to you. Once your dentist has finished treatment, they will give you medication to bring you out of the sedative state, but it can take up to 24 hour for the effects to wear off completely. For this reason, we advise you to arrange a lift home and ask a friend or relative to stay with you. You should avoid driving, exercising, drinking alcohol, operating machinery and making any important decisions during this 24 hour period.

At Aqua Dental we know all too well how damaging dental phobia can be and we are here to support and encourage you. If you suffer from dental phobia, call us or pop in and see us and we will arrange an appointment. Our aim is to make you feel comfortable and enable you to visit the dentist in the future without suffering from crippling nerves and anxiety. Together, we will get there!
