Dental Hygienist Dental Therapist Appointments

Pay £7.75 a month for a hygienist appointment

As we are also restorative and implant dentists, we see an increasing number of patients losing their teeth through gum disease and tooth decay at our clinic in North London.

And we can’t help but think how our patients would not have to go through implant surgery procedures to restore missing teeth lost to these oral conditions if they were more aware or proactive with preventive dentistry.

We’re all guilty of ignoring the consequences, and sadly our gums and teeth suffer.

But help is here to combat these problems and stop them from growing out of control. With regular, low-costing check-ups with a dental hygienist, you can improve, preserve, and maintain your oral state.

Hygienist services

Aqua Dental (HA5) is pleased to offer a range of hygienist services that can target many problems in the mouth.

Our treatments include:

  • Scale and polish treatments
  • Preventive fluoride applications
  • AIR-FLOW therapy (deep cleaning of gums and stain removal)

On top of these services, our helpful hygienists can also provide you with critical advice on diet and preventing tooth decay. They are highly trained to spot the early signs of gum disease and can refer you to one of our on-site periodontists if they see anything that might require further attention.

What happens at a hygienist appointment?

In short, we offer a comprehensive, professional tooth cleaning service (scaling and polishing).

When you visit our practice in Pinner, London, you can expect your dental hygienist to carry out an initial dental hygiene exam and, from there, will begin to scale your teeth and remove any plaque or tartar build-up in those hard-to-reach areas that your toothbrush can’t get to.

Following this, we will perform a clean and polish to remove any superficial stains on your teeth and can even offer tailored advice on how best you can maintain good dental health in between appointments. If needed, we can even demonstrate specific helpful techniques you can use at home.

Are you embarrassed by your smile? You don't have to be. Don't let the fear of what the dentist will think of your teeth stop you from visiting us. We've seen it all before, it's our passion and job to ensure our patients have the healthiest smiles. We're here for you, not to judge you.

How often should you visit one of our dental hygienists?

The frequency of your visits is often determined by your clinical needs, but it’s also down to your wishes on how often you would like your teeth cleaned and polished.

However, we typically recommend that all of our patients book a hygienist appointment regular to stay on top of their oral health and hygiene.

Before any complex treatments like dental implants, we recommend you visit a hygienist for a thorough clean to ensure an easy, straightforward implant process.

Maintaining your oral hygiene at home

Between your dental hygienist appointments, you must look after your teeth at home to ensure they stay decay-free. And we know that you already know how essential it is to brush and floss your teeth twice a day.

But with many people thinking they know how to brush their teeth well, a significant portion misses out on some essential steps which are vital in cleaning.

Thankfully, one of our most experienced dental hygienists, Monika Patel, has passed on her top tips for brushing teeth below:

  1. Floss or use an interdental brush before brushing your teeth
  2. Don’t wet your toothbrush before applying toothpaste
  3. Brush for two minutes twice a day
  4. Brush in circular motions using a manual brush, and with an electric toothbrush, just let it do all the work
  5. Avoid brushing backwards and forwards
  6. Make sure every tooth is cleaned
  7. Don’t rinse your mouth out after brushing; it will wash away the fluoride
