How does Invisalign work exactly?

How can something removable and invisible deliver the perfect smile you’ve always dreamed of.

Well, brace yourself – our factual Invisalign guide will let you know exactly what to expect and how the treatment works to deliver thousands of straight smiles every year.

As Platinum Elite Providers of Invisalign, we are one of the few dentists who complete the highest number of Invisalign cases every year. When you choose us, you always choose better.

Invisalign is much more controlled and comfortable way of aligning teeth.

Invisalign put simply

Invisalign treatment is a near-invisible way to straighten teeth using advanced 3D computer-imaging technology.

Now, this might not sound exciting, but when you see it for yourself during the second stage of the Invisalign process, you’ll understand why it’s so great.

The 3D computer-imaging technology allows patients to completely control their smiles, see the final results before even beginning treatment, and make any changes or adjustments at their pleasure.

The Invisalign technology will detail a road map of your current smile to its final straightened position – this will help us work out which teeth to move at what stage.

Following the treatment plan, you will replace your current aligners with a new set until you finally achieve your desired result.

How teeth move with Invisalign

The magic with Invisalign is that it moves teeth by applying a controlled force to different parts of your smile during other parts of the treatment.

Each set of aligners you wear is designed to target specific teeth. So, with each aligner you wear, you’ll target different teeth and gradually move them into perfect alignment.

Compared to fixed braces, Invisalign is a much more controlled and less painful way to align teeth.

It also promotes stronger oral health as it’s easier to clean – and as the aligners are removable, they don’t interfere so much with day-to-day activities.

How long Invis treatment takes

In short, the length of Invisalign times varies because each person’s plan is custom-made to their needs.

Each person has a different smile concern or bite problem, not to mention underlying oral issues.

For example, the number of dental conditions you have and their severity will impact the length of your Invisalign treatment.

We would advise taking advantage of our Invisalign assessments to see how long the process would be for you.

However, in the meantime, if you would like to do more research, we would suggest checking out this page on Invisalign timelines.

How long you have to wear Invisalign each day

It is highly recommended that you wear your Invisalign at all times, except when brushing or eating.

Yes, this also means that you will have to sleep in your aligners.

But don’t worry, they are very comfortable, but they will take some getting used to in the beginning.

Invisalign aligners must be worn for a minimum of 22 hours a day and will need to be removed when eating or drinking (except for water).

Your aligners need to be kept pristine because they are partial to staining and, once discoloured, will no longer seem invisible.

Invisalign assessments

To see if you’ll be a successful candidate, we advise booking an Invisalign assessment with our Platinum Elite Invisalign Dentist Dr Neera Maini, who will examine your bite to see your personal suitability and provide you with an estimate on how long your treatment will take.
